This historical phrase "Rome was not built in a day",
comes alive and hits your mind when you stand facing the neo-classical
Italian facade at GALLERIA Shopping, Hiranandani Gardens Powai.
It is almost Renaissance happening at this suburb of Mumbai.
Yes, the Hiranandani Group alongwith its brothers team of
Niranjan and Surendra with their relentless pursuit and business
acumen have changed the skyline of Powai once for all.
Ever since 1980, after quitting their textile business and
their foray into construction business at Andheri they did
not find enough challenge merely building Towers. They realised
that in order to emerge market leaders in the Construction
Industry they need to "Create Better Communities"
and build total Integrated Township by providing complete
infrastructure development. The Chief Architect who toiled
and transformed this vision into a beautiful reality-called
Hiranandani Gardens - is 'Niranjan Hiranandani.' Trained as
a Chartered Accountant with a lineage of being the son of
Padma Bhushan Doctor L H Hiranandani, his contribution to
the Indian Society in terms of enterprise building, improving
quality of life, creating a new synergistic environment, has
all been phenomenal and worth reckoning.
He is a Business leader combining qualities business acumen,
forthright citizen, Industry leadership and above all giving
value to his Customers. Today, the Hiranandani Brand is synonymous
to Quality, Timely Completion of Projects, and Total Township
Development.
His Construction Group has developed 400 acres of Township
and is a solid Group having a networth of Rs. 1000 crore today
with interest in Retailing, Entertainment, Hospitality, IT,
Education and Horticulture.
Niranjan actively participates in Public Bodies and is Vice-President
of Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry ( MCHI ) and has
been instrumental in getting a website launched to inform
public on stamp duty on Property and interacting with MCHI.
At this age of 53, he keeps himself fit,he is a socialite
with an open and a benevolent mind who believes in giving
back to Society to improve and contribute as a constant feedback
. He lives day-to-day and every moment to its fullest. These
days, it is his priority to complete the Rs.32 crore Super
Speciality Hospital coming up in Powai
to be opened by Dec. 2003, dedicated to his octogenarian father
Padma Bhushan
Dr. L. H. Hirandandani. Niranjan has almost created history
and his contribution to Mumbai's urban development will go
down the annals of History in Golden Words that our future
generations will inherit and imbibe.
"PLANET POWAI"asked him
a few Questions:
Q1. Off all places what motivated you to choose Powai
for your Project ?
Ans: We were into construction at Andheri and not satisfied
by merely doing concrete and iron structures. "We were
looking for a larger canvas to create an environment,"
which no one had attempted earlier. Moreover, Powai was a
place that no builder ventured to buy and build those days.
Q2. How could you as a Major Group influence / hasten
the progress of flyover and roads at Powai ?
Ans: Yes, we have been in close touch with the concerned
authorities for its speedy completion. Recently under the
aegis of MMRDA a Mumbai Urban Transport Project ( MUTP ) is
on the anvil where the World Bank is also involved and we
hope it is only a time dimension to see this in reality soon.
Q3. How does it feel as an individual to realise one's
vision / dreams so fast ?
Ans: Well, it has not been fast. It has taken us 20
years to reach what you see today. It feels satisfying to
contribute to society and create better living communities.
But then we are merely instruments in the hands of God. We
have been at the right time and juncture to convert an opportunity
into a reality. I have always believed to give back to our
society, our community and my family which has give me the
strength to thrive and flourish.
Q4. The Residents are anxious to know of any plans for
a College or Multiplex in Powai.
Ans: We are contemplating to come up with a College
in the near future. Any Multiplex by our Group is ruled out
at the moment because of local factors not allowing this.
