Kaali Peeli Taxis have gone bonkers at the stand in Hiranandani @ Eden

Powai - 07 February 10 : Ever tried taking a taxi from the stand at Hiranandani Eden? In all probability the burly drivers idling there will first grill you, as where do you want to go, will you come back too? Some even have the audacity to ask, do you stay in Hiranandani?

Then, they will nonchalantly refuse not to go on pretext that some taxis don't have drivers and others are booked. Soon after they will pick up a newspaper and start reading. Some of them even will fake as if they have got a very important call on their second-hand mobiles. I once heard such a driver talk, “Oye Jitey, shaam di roti de vaste mooli lain.”

KB Pande, a resident of Eden has this to say, “All taxi drivers AC and non-AC at Hiranandani Powai stand near Subway / Reliance World, always demand excessive fare and never ever take passengers as per taxi meter. This is their attitude 7 days 24 hours. Even emergency cases to Hiranandani Hospital are refused because the distance is too short. All Powai residents should join together to protest and complain to the Traffic Commissioner.”

It maybe recalled that in 2004 when there was no taxi-stand some taxi drivers from IIT stand and Panch Kutir approached this Newspaper to request the Hiranandani administration to allot them space on the Forest Avenue for a taxi stand. Their request was forwarded to the Hiranandani and a stand was allocated to them, where it stands today.

Now, it seems their stomachs have become full and they just come to socialise and time-pass at the adda (taxi-stand) or they have started taking the privilege for granted. God alone knows where they want to take passengers for!

To check facts for ourselves, when this PP reporter confronted a taxi driver at 11.30 pm for a cab to Ghatkopar at the very same stand, the guy refused saying please take one from the Rodas stand.

The matter was discussed with the GM-Admin of Hiranandani Gp, Joseph Reddy, who told PP, “I will request resident coming across such denial to please pass on the taxi registration numbers through PP to us. This will enable us to take corrective against these errant drivers.”

So, residents in case you come across such denials by these taxi drivers of Hiranandani stand please SMS the taxi's number to PP at mobile 98200 01918 or you can directly email it to reddy.joseph@hiranandani.net
