Nobody asked me but.....
|
Dear Editor,
After very many years, I am sending a mail on this subject.....you may kindly dig into your archives, and republish it if you find it worthwhile for the overall good, especially the vision of tree lined avenues at Powai which was termed then and is still futuristic.
I go up the Powai hill almost everyday, and believe me we are loosing trees even in the monsoons. It's systemic and a way of life.
To digress a bit , for quite a few months , I have been quite vocal and vociferous in all gatherings, to say that our money, yours and mine, if it at at bails out Air India, it should also do so for the rest. Events as it unfolds this day onwards, proves what the aam aadmi wants
This however is not the reason for my mail. I have something else to say, which all of you may like to think about, and ponder ..
Our major concern now about terrorism is about safety and what we as individuals can do to thwart it.
Think about it...if the boat Kuber was sunk at sea by the simple act of pulling a plug ( I know as a seafarer how easy and simple it is ) and Kasab was killed during the encounter, would anybody in the world have believed our story or the facts as they fatuously unfolded....
Pakistan would have denied it outright, our politicians would have played vote bank politics, and Mr Rakesh Maria would have been left holding the baby with the bathwater.
Public memory is short, but it's difficult to digest that it's so short...As of today it's only I and me.
We are all living in denial, as far as the next generation is concerned. We may all be proactive but if we are not proactive in a sustained and resolute manner, nothing really changes...
Think about it.
