Dear Editor,
I am a two-wheeler rider who commutes regularly to IIT for work. The entire stretch of A.D.S. Marg is heavily laden with traffic almost throughout the day except for sometime in the afternoon. In the evenings, it becomes a nightmarish experience to drive through this road. This particular area, near the lake side (Panch Kutir side) gate of IIT, is extremely dangerous and accident prone. A faint-hearted person has to think twice before crossing this road. The vehicles, especially lorries and buses, which are manned by unruly and erratic drivers flout even the basic road safety rules and speed through it. There is an imminent need for a speed breaker in this place in order to avert accidents at least to a certain extent.
Moreover, there is a huge uncovered pit just besides this gate which is equally dangerous. Nobody seems to have done anything about it. Most of the vehicles, especially two wheelers and autorickshaws maneuver their way thorough this by throwing caution into the air. In the night, this area is poorly lit and this may increase the chances of drivers falling into the pit.
I believe in the promptness of ‘Planet Powai’ which I have witnessed earlier in many issues. Hence, I request you to take necessary action with regard to this.
