Residents carry forward the “No Horn” inititative

Dear Editor,
As you are aware the “No Horn Day” declared on 7th April 2008 was successful beyond imagination. However, this needs to be continuously monitored and followed up.
Ms. Vijaya Reddy, the undersigned, resident of Sovereign CHS and Shri Jayesh Sangarajka, Hon. Secretary and Shri Vilas Chopde, Manager of society in Hiranandani Complex have taken up this as a project and have also sent letters to various societies in the area. A meeting also is held and banners and stickers are being provided to various societies for display in the premises and on the cars. The response seems to be very good.
The basic idea is to make the car owners aware that they can make a huge difference in this field if they can restrain from blowing horn without reason, and at the same time also instruct their drivers not to blow horn without sufficient reasons. This idea is on the premise that blowing horn does not necessarily create space. On the other hand, blowing horn will not only irritate others, but also would cause discomfort to the person doing so.
Acting in individual capacity everyone can make a huge impact in the cause of creating peace and reducing noise pollution in the area, city and also in the country. It is, therefore, our request that publicity be given in your column at regular intervals.
Shri Harish Baijal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Department, is a source of inspiration and a guide in this effort.
