Dear Editor,
This is with reference to the article titled “Jai Ho! Faujis say Tata (Power) to Reliance Infra” which appeared in 15th 21st November The article contains technical errors on the cost of the power procured by the consumers and thereof the savings.
The article contains technical errors on the cost of the power procured by the consumers and thereof the savings.
1. Reliance Infrastructure consumers which use more than 135 units per month can shift to Tata Power and save 30% on electricity bills is misleading. For domestic consumers (8KW connected load) with an average bill of 300 units/ month, the saving on Rel Infra bill is Rs.1410/- against a Tata Power bill of Rs.1338/- i.e., a saving of Rs 72/- thereby a saving of 5.1 % only.
2. The savings of 24.5% is only if the monthly consumption increases to Rs13,344/- for 1500 units/month. For 135 units / month not changing the Utility can save the consumer Rs.2/- as Reliance Infrastructure is cheaper than Tata Power.
3. There are three independent Sectors of Jal Vayu Vihar in Powai-A, B & C as also reported by you. In Sector A, Tata Power has 368 consumers and some residents on their own have applied for a change as allowed by MERC. The remaining resident's may be planning the change over and are probably filling up the forms, of which we do not have any information. Hence, no mass change has happened in Jal Vayu Vihar Sector A, the largest sector. This is contrary to what has been reported and quoted by Mr. Sudhir Shetty.
4. The photograph of the meter room represented in the article is also not applicable for Sector A as all our meters have been replaced to Electronic meters whereas the meters shown are the old electromechanical meters.
Tata Power would like you to issue a clarification on the above-mentioned points, thereby ensuring that your readers get a true and factual representation of facts.
Like always, we remain accessible for any information you may require concerning Tata Power.
