SRK detention fiasco...
|
Dear Editor,
“There has been no attack after 9/11 because of this”. Heard, Salman Khan say this whilst defending the immigration protocol at an US airport. Must say he has more than hazaar ka dum.
SRK may be a hero in this part of the world but why presume that a person responsible for security at an US airport should have jolly well recognized him. And even if he had, maybe he would not have been sure of the real SRK if his exposure was limited to only having seen DON !!
We Indians feel that icons and superstars as projected by the media are a must for the rest to follow. Give us a break please.
Security demands dedicated professionalism at all levels , high or low. It's as strong as the weakest link.
The guy at the immigration counter was precisely demonstrating that virtue for us Indians to learn and shed our classist or VIP mentality.
Stop fawning, and insist on visible implementation of the principle of equality enshrined in our constitution , to begin with at our airports and roads (anyone caught in a traffic jam for lal batti's (red beacon) would agree ).
Say 'Jai Ho' to anyone ( like this bloke at Newark airport ) who refused to compromise on issues of national security based purely on some intangible iconic status, global or otherwise.
